ACHUTHAN KUDALLUR

Born 1945 in Kudallur, Kerala, India.
Died July 18, 2022 in Chennai, India.

A civil engineer by training, Kudallur took evening classes at the Madras Art Club in the Government College of Fine Arts in the 1970s. He had several solo exhibitions in India, and participated in international exhibitions in France, Czech Republic, and London. His works were shown at the Bhopal Biennale (1991 and 1998), the Seventh Triennial in Delhi (1991) and the 3rd Asian Art Show at Fukuoka, Japan. He won the Tamil Nadu Lalit Kala Akademi award in 1982 and the National Academy Award in 1988. Kudallur’s paintings can be found in prestigious public and corporate collections throughout India, and have been acquired by the Glenbarra Art Museum (Japan) and the National Gallery of Modern Art (New Delhi).
